Thought I'd try something new for some of my stones. I'm pretty happy witht the results so far. I have ways I want to tweek it but this one works well so far. It's modern and lets the stone really be itself.

Gotta Spend Money to Make Money?

Really? Because that's all I feel like I'm doing, except I'm not making any money right now. I've been making jewelry for about 6 years and sad to say, I haven't really found my market yet. I've never been able to devote my full attention to metalsmithing, but this year I've been able to try more shows than ever before. It has not been a profitable experiment. At all. But I've learned where my market is, so hopefully next year will be more successful.
Silver is at over $18 an ounce, yikes, and with the stones and everything, I've stopped making anything new until my old stuff goes, so after the holidays look for a huge sale. Times are tough for everyone I know, I'm just at a down time today. Sorry for the bummer post. You just have to push through the hard times

I'm in love with this stone, actually, I find I'm in love with alot of my stones and kind of think about them after they've left my possession. I haven't made anything ina while, I'm kind of waiting to get some old inventory cleared out first. So watch for a big sale after the holidays and my shows are over. I have however been hoarding stones like crazy. So again, after the holidays look for tons of new stuff. Above there's a sneak peak of some agates I'm collecting.

Been a long time!

Man, I haven't posted anything in ages! I've been trying to wack out a bunch of earrings and rings for my upcoming shows, Gorham this weekend and the SEA Show in Portland on the 4th, and 5th, and the Artascope Holiday Show. I wanted to do more, but with the baby and work, I felt kind of bad if I did a show every weekend, but I would! I like shows, I like seeing what other people make and I like talking with customers and hearing the crazy things people say to you as a crafter. I never mind when people say, "oh I could make that" they don't, they just say those things to make themselves feel better.
So I'm excited for these things fast approaching and I promise to take pictures of my new booth set, I have a cool banner and cases! Lots to do, I'm only able to write today because I'm home, Jeff hurt his back and the baby is asleep. Gotta sneak in time when you can!

Holidays

Ugh, I've got a few shows coming up and all I can think about is how my booth should be set up.
Unfortunately I can't really afford to do what I'd like. At least I don't think I can, and I'm not sure I have the time to get it all ready. So, I'm making do with what I've got. I'll take pictures and discuss changes I want to make.
I am getting all my boxes, wrapping and earring cards ready though and I kind of like it. I made the stamp myself, it's a J and a B, but it looks more like just a B, which works too.
I'm also trying to pump out alot of new earrings and some rings. I love the new earrings. Hopefully I'll get some in my Etsy shop too.
Phew. Things are crazy, but at least Olivia is happy!
